Salawati is a heart-wrenching tale that explores loss, humanity and religion. Wati, a 12-year-old Singaporean-Malay girl, has just witnessed the death of her older brother.
Her family, who are devout Muslims, struggle with the concept of ‘God’s will’ and grieving for the one they lost. As the story unfolds, we learn others were involved that ill-fated day: a drunken Indian courier and a young Chinese business man who is neglecting his family.
The three stories intertwine and come full circle in the end - God works in mysterious ways.
